Jess was the 2015-2016 Club Media Rep. She is very accomplished at Trampolining, competing in national competitions and is a qualified coach. She has written about her experience of the club which comes from her perspective of being a top athlete. Thanks Jess! I’ve been a member of the club since I started university and love it!
Training at uni is quite relaxed and sociable with a great atmosphere, but still productive. The squad sessions are really good because it’s more focused training which is really helpful in the run up to competitions.
The recent purchase of a Eurotramp Ultimate trampoline means we can train on trampolines that resemble what we use in competition which really helps!
The social side of the club is amazing and it’s so nice to get to know people from all levels of the club. When we go to competitions, everyone knows everyone already from socials, even if they train in different sessions! It’s amazing how much people bond over walking home with cheesy chips from training or Sports Night!
Competitions at uni are really fun and much more relaxed compared to what I was used to at other competitions. I really enjoy going to competitions with everyone, they’re always a really good day out and made me enjoy competing again! BUCS is the biggest competition of the year which is held in the massive ICE arena in Sheffield. It’s always a really fun weekend away competing for the uni.
The High Performance Centre at UBSport is also really good! They have an extensive range of scholarship programmes and are really supportive! Joining the trampolining club added a lot to my experience at uni that has made it so much more enjoyable! Loads of my closest friends were made here, a few of which ended up being housemates!
To conclude: definitely join a sports club at uni and make sure it’s trampolining!!!!
