Past Achievements
Club Impact Award
At the end of each year the University of Birmingham holds its annual sports awards, a great evening where all sports teams come together to celebrate their successes over the past year.
Gymnastics and Trampolining won the prestigious Club Impact Award, showing how important we are to the students at Birmingham University. We are now one of the biggest sports societies and hopefully will continue to prove our success in the future!
Coach of the Year
As well as sports team awards, the Sports Ball also celebrates individual hard work and success. In 2013, Gymnastics Head Coach, Yunjia Lau, was announced as the Coach of the Year!
We all agree that this was a well deserved award and are sure that Yunjia will continue to demonstrate her amazing coaching skills!
BUCS
BUCS (British Uni Championships) is the most important competition for nearly all university sports teams and there are hundreds of performers in both gymnastics and trampolining.
During 2014-15 out of the 25 trampolinists, 8 made it through to finals, with Hannah Poland taking silver for BUCS 6 women and Emily Wright also coming 2nd for BUCS 5 women.
The gymnastics men's team came 2nd overall and the women's team came 5th!
We were overwhelmed by the amazing performance of our teams and hope to continue this success at BUCS next year!
Victoria Wesley Award
The Victoria Wesley Award recognises outstanding contribution to UBSport and to the development of the student sporting experience.
The year 2013 winner was our very own Vicky Harris. As Gymnastics Captain, Vicky played a key role in the fantastic delivery of the Birmingham Gymnastics Open - a major sporting event on campus. She worked tirelessly to ensure the development and expansion of the Gymnastics & Trampolining club and recruited several new coaches to further improve our club. Not only that, but Vivky has now gone on to become the Vice-President of Sport at the guild and we hope that she will enjoy her role there as much as she has enjoyed her role within the GymTramp society
We are all so proud of Vicky and extremely grateful for the hard work and dedication that she puts into Gym Tramp.
