FAQ

I have never done gymnastics in my life, can I join?

Absolutely! As a club we cater for and welcome all from complete beginners to the elite and experienced. The training sessions are split into two categories; novice and intermediate/advanced. Intermediate/advanced training sessions are for people that are experienced gymnasts and can compete in the intermediate categories or above in the competitions. In the novice training session, the novices are split into groups which accomodates to everybody's gymnastic level (ie. group 5 is for people who haven't done gymnastics before and group 1 is for people who are near to the intermediate/advanced level). No matter what category you are in, you can still participate in some of the competitions such as the Birmingham Open. If you are unsure about joining or undecided on what category you should be in, we offer taster sessions in the first two weeks of semester 1 to allow you to try out a training session. See the taster session page for more details!

What should I wear?

Whatever you are comfortable in whether that is a leotard and shorts or trackies and a T-shirt. Please to be sure to remove all jewellery before training and have long hair tied back.

I go to a different University, can I join?

Of course! Over the years we’ve had a number of students from different Universities and Colleges coming along and even competing with us. The more the merrier. Non-University of Birmingham students pay slightly more in membership fees however, as the club receives no funding for these members.

I'm not a University student can I join?

You do not have to be a University student to join, however due to child protection laws anyone below the age of 18 cannot join. Non-University of Birmingham members have to pay slightly more in membership fees as the club receives no funding for these members.
