FAQ

Do you offer summer sessions?

Unfortunately we don't- as we are a university club, most of our members are not about in Birmingham during the summer holidays, which means that we cannot run. We run during term-time from September-June. We hope to see you in September!

I'm completely new to Trampolining, can I still join?

Absolutely! As a club we cater for and welcome all from complete beginners to the elite  and experienced. This is shown by our committee which ranges from national competitiors to those who are happy to just bounce up and down. Come along to a taster session and test your skills.

What are taster sessions?
A taster session is an hour and half or two hour session so you can try out the sport without having to pay for a year’s membership. They are fun, informal and give you a chance to meet new people whilst showing off what you can do whether it’s a tuck jump, forward roll or a triple back summie!

For more information about our taster session (where and when etc) check out our taster sessions page under "training times"

What should I wear?

Whatever you are comfortable in whether that is a leotard and shorts or trackies and a T-shirt. Most people wear normal gym kit.  For trampolining you MUST wear/ bring socks or gym shoes otherwise you will not be allowed to trampoline. Please to be sure to remove all jewellery before training and have long hair tied back.

Do I need to buy kit to be part of the club?

Absolutely not. Most people do buy some kit, but it is only required if you intend to compete for us. Even then, it is often possible to borrow kit- ask a committee member for details.

I go to a different University, can I join?
Of course! Over the years we’ve had a number of students from different Universities and Colleges coming along and even competing with us. The more the merrier. Non-University of Birmingham students pay slightly more in membership fees however, as the club receives no funding for these members.

I'm not a University student, can I join?
You do not have to be a University student to join, however due to child protection  laws anyone below the age of 18 cannot join. Non-University of Birmingham members have to pay slightly more in membership fees as the club receives no funding for these members.

How do I join?

It's pretty simple! You go to the Sports Centre Reception and ask to pay the membership fee for the Trampolining Club, specifying which option you've gone for. They will give you 2 receipt copies- one you keep, and one you give to the Club Secretary to confirm you've paid for your membership. Congratulations! You've succeeded in becoming a member.

What do I get out of joining?

It's up to you! You can gain new skills and compete, or just keep it as a de-stressing activity which is fun to come along to. We've got a great mix of people so you're guaranteed to meet new friends, and you can participate as much or as little in the club as you like.

What is the club atmosphere like?

Very friendly and supportive- because we have such a variety of skill levels represented, we like to integrate where possible and more advanced members sometimes help out with informal coaching for less experienced members.

How sociable is the club?

Check out the 'Social Side' page for heaps more information!

How much does it cost?

Please see the prices tab for more information.

All members have to pay an AU membership fee.  An AU or Athletic Union membership is required if you wish to join any sports club within the University, although this membership must only be paid once per year. It will automatically be added to your bill when signing up so ensure you enquire about this if you've already joined a sports team.
