Kicking off the blogs is our 2016-17 Media Rep, Ellen.
I'm already excited to get started on the 2016-17 season, and it's now only 2 and a half months away!
I'm especially looking forward to welcoming back old members and meeting new ones because this is my first time as a committee member for Trampolining.
The committee (Tom, Beth, Sophie, Anna, Nat and me) have been planning how to make sure everyone gets the best from sessions and being a member of the club and we'll be revealing more details nearer the time...
So for now, I'll be telling you about my experience as a member of the club.
I'm just about to go into my 3rd year at Birmingham as a student, and my 2nd as a member of the Trampolining Club. I didn't join as a fresher because I was convinced that you had to be really good at the sport and it wouldn't cater for beginners. At the start of 2nd year, I went along to the Sports Fair (held every Welcome Week) and ended up chatting to some of the committee members at the stand who told me actually, Trampolining has all levels and I would be welcome to come.
Before I committed, I went to a taster session which I would really recommend- it gives you an opportunity to experience the club atmosphere and find out what the average training session is like. I really enjoyed it and so I joined the club!
In fact, I enjoyed myself so much that I stood for committee at our AGM in March because I wanted to give back to the club, and was lucky enough to be elected. One of the things I hope to do as a committee member is lead by example and show that everyone and anyone can join, whether you're an accomplished tuck jumper or you can do crash-dives without turning a hair! Our committee has all skill levels and so we can promise that you'll be well provided for in the club, whatever you want to get out of the experience.
